Veterans Day Crossword Puzzle

This Veterans Day crossword puzzle gives kids a thoughtful way to learn more about the day while working their way through a fun set of clues. I think puzzles can be especially helpful with topics like this because they give us an easy starting point for talking about why we observe Veterans Day and the people we honor.

As kids solve the crossword, they’ll come across words connected to veterans, military service, patriotism, and remembrance. They’ll also get some spelling, vocabulary, and problem-solving practice without turning the activity into a long lesson.

I’d use this printable alongside a Veterans Day lesson at home or in the classroom. It can also be a nice quiet activity for morning work or something for early finishers to complete.

Once the puzzle is finished, take a few minutes to talk about the answers together and remind kids why saying thank you to our veterans matters so much.
